Tyler, from Pitsea, was found unresponsive at the bottom of a lift shaft in a Turkish hotel last month but his grandparents, Collette and Ray, have claimed there were “suspicious circumstances” leading up his fall. Since his death, the family have pleaded for the investigation to be upgraded to a murder investigation. Now, they are working with Justice Abroad, a charity that fights for the rights of British citizens overseas, and have appointed two private investigators.

They will now travel to Antalya in a bid to “find answers” for the Kerry family. Danielle Belton, Conservative councillor for Hockley and Ashingdon, who is also acting as an advocate for the family, said: “The Kerrys need answers and until now the Turkish authorities and British Police have been unable to provide any. “The level of investigation that we as British citizens would expect in suspicious circumstances simply hasn’t been met, and therefore the family have had no choice but to take matters into their own hands.

“Justice Abroad have been instructed to act, to try and get justice for Tyler.” She added: “Thank you to everyone that has supported the fundraising efforts to date. It is through this generosity that the private investigation has been funded.

” Justice Abroad provide representation and advocacy to British citizens arrested, killed or stuck abroad. Tyler, an office furnishings fitter, was discovered dead at the bottom of a lift shaft at the Trendy Lara Hotel in Antalya, Turkey on November 29. His family have said they believe his death was murder.

However, Turkish police previously released an investigation update stating that following an initial autopsy of Tyler’s body, there was no indication of knife or firearm injuries and that witness statements suggest Tyler had been drinking before his fall. The report said that the initial autopsy done by Turkish authorities “concluded that there was no intervention to the outside of the body”. A full autopsy was due to take place on Friday with the Kerry family hoping for more conclusive answers.
