Excelsior CorrespondentSrinagar, Apr 16: A 44-year-old man from Dalgate died today at the Chest Disease (CD) Hospital, while his family alleged “medical negligence.”According to the family, the deceased, identified as Rafiq Ahmad, had complained of chest pain in the morning, following which he was taken to the hospital immediately.They claimed that the doctor on duty “failed to provide proper treatment” and behaved in an “unprofessional manner” when they sought immediate medical attention.
Following Rafiq’s death, the family also alleged that the doctor left the ward, further angering them.Hospital authorities informed ‘Excelsior’ that the patient died due to cardiopulmonary arrest and could not be revived despite all efforts.They refuted the allegations of medical negligence and stated that a committee has been formed to ascertain the facts and circumstances leading to the patient’s death.
“By no means was it medical negligence. At 6 in the morning, he was attended by a senior doctor and all the required investigations were done. Unfortunately, he developed cardiopulmonary arrest at 7 a.
m.,” officials said.They added that every effort was made to resuscitate him, but he could not be revived and passed away at 7:30 a.
