FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield High School baseball team moved into first place in the Greater Sacramento League with a dominating performance over previously unbeaten West Campus, defeating the Warriors, 23-0, Tuesday in Sacramento. Fairfield opened with a nine-run first inning and scored in all five innings. The Falcons collected 28 hits and improved to 15-5 and 10-1 in league.
West Campus is now 8-1 in GSL play. Pat O'Reilly thew a two-hitter over five innings. He walked two and struck out 10 for the win.
O'Reilly also went 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, triple and two RBI. Donavan Luu and Desten Torrence had four hits apiece. Torrence drove in four runs and Luu had an RBI.
Tristen Smith, Devin Knox and Christian Rambeau each had three hits. Rambeau hit three doubles and drove in four runs. Knox had three RBI and Smith knocked in two runs.
Zach O'Reilly, Gianni Cisneros Marinaro and Damien Sandoval were in the two-hit club. Zach O'Reilly and Sandoval had RBIs. Ricardo Martin added a hit and an RBI.
Trustin Mitchell also drove in a run. Fairfield will host the second game of the series with West Campus at 4 p.m.
on Thursday. After Thursday, Fairfield will have seven games remaining in the regular season but only two in league. Those will come April 22 and April 24 against Hiram Johnson.
