The Maharashtra government inducted 38 ministers into the Cabinet Sunday, with the BJP leading the portfolio count. The following ministers have taken oath: BJP: Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Radhakrishna Patil, Chandrakant Patil, Girish Mahajan, Ganesh Naik, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Jaykumar Rawal, Pankaja Munde, Atul Salve, Ashish Shelar; NCP: Hasan Mushrif, Dhananjay Munde, Aditi Tatkare; Shiv Sena: Gulabrao Patil, Sanjay Rathod, Dadaji Bhuse, Uday Samant; Shambhuraj Desai. The swearing-in ceremony, held at Raj Bhavan in Nagpur, was conducted by Governor CP Radhakrishnan.
This is a rare event for the city, as the last such ceremony in Nagpur took place in 1991, when Governor C Subramaniam administered the oath to Chhagan Bhujbal and other ministers. The BJP is expected to retain key ministries, including Home, Revenue, Education, Power, and Irrigation, while the NCP is likely to hold on to Finance, Cooperation, Agriculture, and Sports.
