Arne Slot will see many changes occur in his Liverpool squad this summer. Liverpool have tied down Mohamed Salah to a new contract and with Virgil van Dijk also to remain at Anfield , that has given the Reds less work to do during the upcoming transfer window. Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to leave Liverpool , however, the Merseyside club are not expected to replace the 26-year-old.

Instead, the Premier League leaders will look to sign a left-back, a centre-back, a midfielder, and a striker. A new number nine is top of Liverpool’s list, however, the need for a central defender may be prioritised as the futures of two centre-backs are in doubt. Liverpool should expect ‘movement’ around Jarell Quansah Arne Slot subbed Jarell Quansah off at halftime during Liverpool’s opening Premier League game of the season against Ipswich Town and since that day, it has been an up-and-down campaign for the centre-back.

The Englishman has received just 286 minutes of action in the English top flight this season and should the Reds bring in a new centre-back, the 22-year-old may want to depart Anfield in search of more gametime. Newcastle are interested in Quansah and believe they can sign the Liverpool star this summer for £30million plus add-ons, reported The Times last month, and Fabrizio Romano believes the defender’s future is one to keep an eye on. “I’ll keep an eye on Jarell Quansah because he is very good and very talented,” Romano said in the latest episode of the Here We Go Podcast, when asked about possible Liverpool defensive summer exits.

“But I think sometimes you want to play. So you have Virgil van Dijk and the contract. Ibrahima Konate is still there; there is interest in Dean Huijsen.

Liverpool have many players in that position. “It is true that injuries are part of the game. We have many games, as always, in modern football.

But Jarell Quansah is attracting interest from several clubs. Newcastle, from what I’m hearing, but also German clubs. That is the information I can tell you.

I’m told there is also interest from the Bundesliga. “I think there will be movement for Quansah. I think he is one of the players that Liverpool will consider to cash in if the player wants to go and try something new.

” With a contract expiring in 2026, there is also uncertainty around the future of Ibrahima Konate at Liverpool, and Romano has provided an update on that situation too. Liverpool keen to keep hold of Ibrahima Konate Having successfully kept hold of Salah and Van Dijk for two more years, Liverpool’s priority will now turn to Konate as the French star is the future of the Reds’ defence and is a player the Merseyside club will not want to let go. Speaking to GIVEMESPORT , Romano has stated that the Premier League leaders will now turn their attention to Konate as they continue to work on a new deal for the defender.

“They are in negotiations,” the transfer expert stated. “Now the priority was obviously Salah and Van Dijk, but the next one could be Konate as Liverpool are working on it.” Konate is a huge part of Liverpool’s future as the France international has been incredible since joining the Reds in 2021 and remains a big part of Slot’s plans at Anfield.

Having Konate and Van Dijk at the heart of his defence would be a big boost for the next two years, which would allow the Dutch coach to bring in a younger centre-back to learn from both, and spend this summer’s money to strengthen other areas of concern.
