It is a question that everyone at Manchester United would have thought they’d seen the end of but Jadon Sancho looks set to dominate another summer window. Jadon Sancho was a load lifted off from Man Utd when they sealed a loan deal with Chelsea for him which included an obligation to buy. When Sancho started well at Chelsea, it was a happy scenario where both clubs and the player moved forward in their new reality.
However, Sancho quickly reverted to bad form and the nadir was reached with reports of Chelsea potentially sending him back, even if it meant a payment to United!Fabrizio Romano has now shared the latest on the forward’s future and how a “crazy” scenario “driven by Ruben Amorim” could still change it all. Photo by Eddie Keogh/Getty ImagesRuben Amorim’s influence on Jadon Sancho’s Man Utd futureA big reason why Jadon Sancho lost all goodwill with Man Utd fans, if he had any remaining, is because of his petty dig at Man Utd via Marcus Rashford. His “freedom” response was out of line considering Rashford was dropped by a manager who wasn’t even there during Sancho’s time.
Amorim’s dynamic with Sancho, therefore, is unexplored as yet and that’s a big unknown amidst rumours of him being sent back by Chelsea. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said that Sancho’s priority is to stay at Chelsea but if it doesn’t happen, United have also made a decision on the player which can only be influenced by an “absolutely crazy” scenario driven by the Man Utd manager. He said: “My information on recent stories is that even if Chelsea decide to send Jadon Sancho back to Old Trafford, the plan is to not continue together.
The priority for Sancho is to stay at Chelsea. “In case Chelsea decide the opposite, it would take something absolutely crazy, completely driven by Ruben Amorim to change things for him to stay because management already decided to give up on him one year ago.”Ruben Amorim has likely made his decisionThe reason why Romano says it would be an “absolutely crazy” scenario is because, at first glance, Jadon Sancho looks like he has everything Ruben Amorim wouldn’t want in a player.
He struggles with physicality, isn’t consistent, has a history of being a dressing room trouble, and has no clear place in Amorim’s 3-4-3. The only scenario in which Sancho ever pulls on a United jersey again is, much like last season, if the club wants to put him in the shop window again. Only this time, they will be negotiating from an even weaker stance since he’d had suffered the ignominy of being sent back despite the club holding an obligation to buy him.
United and Amorim will hope with every fibre of their being that no “crazy” scenarios take place and Sancho quietly gets his permanent move to Chelsea, while the club walks away with a cool £25 million that is looking like a bigger steal with every day..
