Manchester United have a clear need for a goalscorer and Viktor Gyokeres is a clear goalscorer so the marriage is made in heaven but the transfer window isn’t as simple as that!Viktor Gyokeres is a name that is sure to dominate the upcoming summer window as the Swede is the apple of the eye of the whole of Europe. Gyokeres is blitzing records in Portugal and for his country, and a proven goalscorer for an affordable fee is a prospect that every club would kill for. Man Utd are getting left behind in Gyokeres transfer sweepstakes and Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that a Ruben Amorim ‘shock’ is playing a role in that.

The manager had built strong relationships with his players in Portugal but the reality has turned out to be quite different. Geovany Quenda is already on his way to Chelsea and Gyokeres’ Man Utd transfer is looking increasingly likely.
Romano has now revealed that Amorim signing for Man Utd might actually have had a negative effect on United’s chances of signing Sporting players.Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “Gyokeres could leave Sporting this summer. The expectation is for Gyokeres to go and try a new experience this summer.
“The verbal pact was Gyokeres wasn’t going to force an exit one year ago, not even forcing an exit in January when they lost Ruben Amorim.“Imagine what kind of change, what kind of shock was that for Sporting and the player. He decided to respect that.
Now in the summer, it’s almost guaranteed.”Sporting wary of Man Utd nowThere is a clear inference to be taken that Sporting were shaken up by the mid-season departure of their decorated manager. Amorim said before arriving too that he doesn’t event want to joke about his players joining him at Old Trafford because he’d already risked his relationship by leaving mid-season.
It is clear that that is a path being avoided by Sporting players now, while United’s own competition standing isn’t doing them any favours. Gyokeres wants to win major titles and barring a miraculous turnaround next season, United still look a way away from doing that. To risk his favour in Portugal for a move that doesn’t even give him a good chance of achieving his main aim isn’t the brightest move.
Amorim might be the last man to move from Sporting to Man Utd for a while now, such was the shock!.
