Chelsea are still giving time to Josh Acheampong to decide on whether he wants to sign a new contract with the club according to Fabrizio Romano. Acheampong is currently under contract until 2026 at Stamford Bridge, and was recently linked with a surprise move to Real Madrid. The teenager has only made two appearances for the first team and featured in the Carabao Cup tie against Barrow last month.

” More Stories / It’s a decision Acheampong won’t want to rush into it and he will need to evaluate how clear the pathway is to first team minutes at Chelsea. Given he’s a right back it’s difficult to see how he would displace Reece James and Malo Gusto on a regular basis, but with James’ well documented fitness issues there would be opportunities for him, although the pathway at other clubs will likely be clearer and Acheampong needs to weigh that up in his thinking..
