Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans recorded their second win of the IPL 2025 which has seen them climb up to the fourth spot on the points table. Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill is not focusing on the ‘noise’ and has his eyes trained on winning matches in the ongoing IPL 2025 . GT began their season with a defeat to Punjab Kings in a high-scoring affair before they defeated Mumbai Indians for their first win and then on Wednesday, got the better of Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
The consecutive wins have propelled them to the fourth spot on the points table. “Eyes on the game, not the noise," Gill posted on X (formerly Twitter) after GT’s eight-wicket win over RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Gill was appointed GT captain last season after allrounder Hardik Pandya returned to Mumbai Indians bringing an end to highly successful two seasons with the franchise.
Under Pandya, GT won the IPL in their debut season in 2022 before finishing as the runners-up in 2023. However, last season, GT finished a lowly eighth. This season though, the former champions are starting afresh given they had to rebuild their squad given the mega auction last year.
Meanwhile, Gill said the pitches at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium throw up a surprise every time GT play here. “It’s a bit surprising every time we come here, sometimes wicket is really good – looks like a 250 wicket and sometimes there’s something in it for the seamers with the new ball," Gill said at the post-match presentation. GT though were guilty of dropping two catches.
The first one was that of Phil Salt but it didn’t cost them much, but Liam Livingstone, who was given a life on 9, went on to score a half-century. Gill was disappointed at the dropped catches but said moving on and being ready to grab the next opportunity has been their mantra. “You are definitely disappointed but that’s the thing you always talk about that you should keep coming back at them even if you make mistakes.
You have to grab the next opportunity that comes to you," he said.
