It's hurricane season across the United States and a big one might be coming later this week. Florida has unfortunately been home to some of the biggest and most severe hurricanes to ever hit the United States. The state is currently bracing for one to hit later this week.

According to reports, an "extremely severe" hurricane could hit the south of Florida beginning on Thursday. Weather reports indicate that this one could be pretty damaging. "All residents of the Panhandle, Big Bend & FL West Coast down to Tampa Bay should use this time being sure they have the hurricane supplies they need just in case," Jeff Berardelli reported.

"While the most likely landfall at this very early forecast time is the Big Bend/ eastern Panhandle, there is some real chance it comes further east closer to the Tampa Bay Area, and given how strong this hurricane will be, we can’t afford to take it lightly. "This is not meant to scare anyone. But I need all folks near this path to start paying very close attention and taking this seriously.

Wherever this landfalls, it’s gonna be bad. Our team will continuously update you as new information comes in." Joe Raedle/Getty Images Storm surges are believed to be the biggest fear for the hurricane that could hit later this week.

"Not convinced yet of an intense cane (it could be). But I am certain it will be a very large hurricane. I am emphasizing the tidal surge in our forecasts," another meteorologist shared.
