A major retailer has explained why it has closed its York store. As the Press recently reported, Weird Fish recently closed its branch in Stonegate. The closure followed a final sale of the store's products and came after ten years of trading at the site.

A spokesperson told the Press today: "Weird Fish has made the strategic decision to close our York store as we focus on new opportunities in alternative locations in the county and are thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of our new store in Beverley, set to open for Easter. "With a strong commitment to growth, Weird Fish continues to expand across the UK and has opened five new stores in the past year." The York closure leaves the Scarborough branch as the only North Yorkshire location in the company's portfolio, which has 34 high-street stores.

In York, their products can still be found at the Mountain Warehouse in Davygate..
