Filipinos aged 80 to 95 now qualify for a P10,000 cash gift every five years under the amended Centenarian Act. Osca announces a payout for 217 seniors in Davao City, ensuring more elderly citizens receive financial support.

IN ACCORDANCE with Republic Act 11982, which amends the Centenarians Act of 2016, Filipinos aged 80 to 95 are now eligible for a cash gift of P10,000 every five years. This expansion allows more seniors to benefit from the program. The Office of the Senior Citizens' Affairs (Osca) has announced that 217 senior citizens will receive cash grants in the third payout for the Expanded Centenarian Program.

Lorenzo Borja, Osca head, shared that the beneficiaries include 123 seniors celebrating their 80th birthday, 65 reaching 85, 26 marking 90, one turning 95, and two centenarians. The payout is scheduled for April 8, though the date may be adjusted as officials finalize the venue arrangements for the large number of recipients. Borja said that the payout may take place simultaneously across the city’s three districts to improve efficiency.

For seniors unable to attend in person, family members may collect the cash gift on their behalf with an authorization letter signed by the senior. Additionally, families of seniors who have passed away after reaching the eligibility age may still claim the incentive. Osca encourages families to register their seniors at least one month before their 80th birthday to ensure eligibility for the cash gift.

This helps guarantee access to benefits when the senior becomes eligible. The first two payouts, held in February and March, assisted 171 senior citizens. With this third payout, more seniors will benefit, continuing the government’s efforts to support elderly Filipinos and enhance their well-being.
