Shubman Gill is tipped to be India’s flagbearer in the post Rohit Sharma-Virat Kohli era. The Indian batter has been one of the reliable names in the recent past and is expected to play a central role in the upcoming Australian tour. Gill burst onto the scene in the 2018 ICC U19 World Cup and later he has gone on to prove himself as one of the mainstays of the Indian Cricket Team.

Gill’s U19 captain Prithvi Shaw had an earlier breakthrough to the India setup but the 24 year old hasn’t justified his potential. Persistent injury issues and inconsistency have led to his ouster from the Indian Team and he was also dropped from the Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad recently due to fitness problems. Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull brought back his memories of the 2018 U19 World Cup when he compared Shaw with Shubman.

While speaking on JioCinema, Doull further stamped his claim which he made during the tournament. Doull had predicted that Gill would have a longer career than Shaw as the former doesn’t have any major technical flaws. "When you think about a young man with the ability to change things in the middle of a series, that's what's quite impressive.

And I first saw Shubman in the U-19 World Cup in New Zealand and there was so much chat around Prithvi Shaw at that stage.' “I made quite a bold statement that Shubman Gill's career would way, way surpass what Prithvi Shaw does because there was some technical flaws in Prithvi Shaw and Shubman just didn't look like he had technical flaws at that stage. Gill was also picked up in the Indian squad for the upcoming Australia series and the Gujarat Titans captain will play a pivotal role in the five match Test series starting from November 22.
