After Azaad , Mohit Malik returns with Chamak: The Conclusion, the second season of the popular series. He reprises his role as Guru, a queer character whose journey resonated with audiences in Season 1. His performance received praise for its depth and sensitivity.
In Chamak: The Conclusion, Guru’s arc takes an even more intense turn, reflected through three distinct looks that mark different phases of his evolution. Reflecting about his look, Mohit said, “The most exciting part of playing Guru was the three distinct looks I had throughout the show—curly hair, slicked-back gelled hair, and a bald look. The curly hair was something I insisted on.
Initially, my director wasn’t convinced, but I felt I wasn’t finding Guru in the other looks we tried. One day, I curled my hair and met him, telling him, ‘This is Guru.’ Eventually, he agreed, and later during filming, he admitted it was the right choice.
Though it completely damaged my hair due to all the heat styling, it helped bring out Guru’s sensitivity and softness.” He added, “The second look, with slicked-back hair, represents Guru’s transformation in Season 2. He becomes more self-centered, indifferent, and high-status.
This shift happened naturally during a scene where I had to submerge my head in water while crying. Right after, my director suggested pushing my hair back, creating this new look on the spot. The final transformation is the bald look, which appears towards the end of the show.
It plays a significant role in Guru’s journey, and I’m excited for the audience to see how it unfolds. Each look wasn’t just about aesthetics—they helped me express different emotions and phases of Guru’s evolution.” With Chamak: The Conclusion, Mohit Malik adds more depth to his character, continuing to push boundaries.
