Excitement as bandstand to reopen this weekend with sell-out show

Eastbourne Bandstand is set to reopen this weekend with a sell-out show and a free Easter concert. The "UK's busiest bandstand" will kick off its season with the first Ultimate 90s tribute show on Saturday evening, which has already sold out. The bandstand will host more than 100 concerts this season.

On Sunday afternoon, the Eastbourne Silver Band will return for the traditional Easter Sunday concert at 3pm. In the evening, the seafront venue will host an Elton John tribute show at 8pm. Max Anthony will be on piano and vocals, supported by a full backing band. He will perform hits such as Your Song, Crocodile Rock, and I’m Still Standing, with costume changes throughout the show. The tribute show season will continue with performances from acts such as Queen, Coldplay, ELO, ABBA, Spice Girls, Elvis, Tina Turner, and Taylor Swift throughout April and May.

Although tickets for Saturday’s Ultimate 90s show are sold out, the show will return on August 2 for a second performance, with tickets available now. An Eastbourne Borough Council spokesman said: "We are delighted to begin this year’s programme with a full house and can’t wait to welcome audiences back to the 100+ concerts taking place this season. "Although tickets can sometimes be purchased on the door, we would urge music fans to book ahead this season to avoid missing out on some incredible award-winning performances from some of the best tribute acts in the industry.

" The tribute season will continue with concerts every weekend until September 28, with additional concerts on Thursdays in the summer. The 1812 Firework Nights will return from June 11 with the Eastbourne Silver Band, and Sunday Afternoon Concerts will begin on May 4 with Harvey’s Brass. Kids Disco Party Nights will return in the summer holidays on Tuesdays, with an additional Whitsun school holiday party night on May 27.

Tribute shows will begin at 8pm, with doors and the bar opening at 7pm. Friends of Eastbourne Bandstand members will receive 10 per cent off all Bandstand tickets and a 10 per cent discount at the bar, as well as discounted beach hut and deckchair hire, for an annual fee of £10..
