Former Norwich City striker Gary Hooper has dropped to the eighth tier of English football by returning to Essex side Maldon & Tiptree. The Canaries promotion winner first played for the Jammers when they were called Maldon Town in 2002, before a 2009 takeover led to a name change. He's now made the switch back to the club where he enjoyed a brief spell as a teenager, as they embark upon a new era under recently-confirmed owners Barrie and Scott Drewitt Barlow, having also changed their badge.

Hooper only joined seventh-tier Kettering Town in October, playing a part in their unlikely run to the second round of the FA Cup, but recently left Latimer Park by mutual consent. The 37-year-old played 70 games for Norwich between 2013 and 2016, scoring 20 goals after arriving from Celtic in a £5million move. He made his debut for his new club on Saturday, playing 62 minutes of a 0-0 draw with Cambridge City.
