River levels are rising in Gloucestershire due to high tides and recent heavy rainfall. The Environment Agency has now issued four red alert flood warnings for the between Gloucester and Tewkesbury and the Wye, updating them today (Friday, October 18). People have been warned that flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected to continue today with levels increasing during high tides.
The at Maisemore was shut last night (Thursday) and remains at risk of future closures. The four flood warnings - which mean flooding is expect - are in place for the River Severn at Apperley and The Leigh; Sandhurst and Maisemore; Severn Ham at Tewkesbury; at Brockweir. There is also a flood warning across the border in Herefordshire for the River Wye from Hereford to Ross-on-Wye.
The Environment Agency says: "Further high tides are expected over the next few days. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded." The warnings comes as is named by Met Éireann – the Irish met service.
It's forecast to bring high winds to the UK with Met Office weather warnings issued for Sunday in parts of Wales, northern England and Scotland. There is no specific warning for Gloucestershire, but heavy rain is forecast in the early hours of Saturday and on Sunday morning. River levels are forecast to rise at the Haw Bridge river gauge as a result of high tides coinciding with rising river levels from recent heavy rainfall.
Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland will continue today, Friday 18/10/24 with levels increasing during the high tides. We expect flooding to affect Gabb Lane at Apperley and local caravan parks. : 4.
7m to 5.0m at 11pm on Friday River levels are rising at the Gloucester and Sandhurst river gauges as a result of high spring tides. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is possible.
We expect flooding to affect Coal Wharf and Riverside, Maisemore, low lying areas on Base Lane, Sandhurst. Sandhurst lane will be just passable. The A417 at Maisemore may be closed due to flooding.

2m at 10:45pm today and 4m to 4.3m at 11:45am on Saturday River levels continue to rise at the Mythe Bridge river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland remains possible.
We expect flooding to affect properties and roads in and around Severn Ham, Tewkesbury. Mythe 4.2m to 4.
5m on Sunday A flood warning has been issued as a series of high tides are expected over the next two days. Conditions may apply for an hour either side of high tide. High Tides may impact properties and roads including garages at Brockweir.

45pm on Friday and 7.2m to 7.45m at 9am on Saturday.
Avonmouth Portbury 8m to 8.2m at 8.45pm on Friday and 7.
7 to 7.95m at 9am on Saturday. River levels are rising at the Ross-On-Wye river gauge as a result of recent heavy rainfall.
Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected today. We expect flooding to affect properties and roads in and around Hereford and Ross on Wye including Wilton area. Were due this morning.
