Mangaliso Kabulika BUDIRIRO 4 Methodist Church In Zimbabwe caretaker, Makomborero Musiiwa, is claiming the church steward forged his signature which led to his eviction leading to his homelessness. Musiiwa is set to appear in court today. He claims his signature on a letter dated October 18, 2023, which led to his eviction from the church premises where he had stayed for 15 years, was forged.
He is suing the church for US$54 000 in compensation. “When the church learnt that I wanted US$54 000 in compensation, they tried to settle out of court in the absence of lawyers and I accepted but we failed to reach an agreement. “Instead, the church obtained an eviction order via some corrupt means.
“I was shocked when I received the order without being informed of the court date so as to defend myself. “I was then evicted by the church through the Messenger of Court. “After my eviction, I visited the Civil Court to enquire about the documents in the case file which led to my eviction and that is when I discovered that my signature was forged on the Church Board Resolution Letter dated 18 October 2023.
“The letter stated that the board members have resolved that Muchamuda Ndenga be appointed as a legal representative in the eviction matter. “Muchamuda and Paidamoyo Munakiri, who was the other steward, were then summoned by the police where they denied signing the church board letter. “Muchamuda claimed that she was given the signed letter by Reverend Takaendesa.
“The Reverend was summoned to the police but denied that he gave Muchamuda the letter. “Muchamuda was again summoned to the police and she started changing her statement that she did not get the letter from the Reverend. “Paidamoyo is set to write a statement which will be presented in court concerning her knowledge of the Board letter.
“Muchamuda seems to be aware of the people involved in forging my signature on the letter which were filed by the church,” said Musiiwa..
