'Everything he touched turned to gold - but for other people' Producer Of Brian Epstein Biopic Discusses His Importance In History The life of a "Liverpool visionary" who discovered and helped a number of our city's music legends skyrocket to fame is to be told in a new biopic. Born in Liverpool on September 19, 1934, Brian Epstein played a key role in the city's wider music scene and the development of Merseybeat in the mid-60s. In his teens, he worked at record retailer North End Music Stores (NEMS), which was established by his family, before becoming director at the age of 21, the ECHO previously reported.

Epstein later became The Beatles' manager. ‌ Epstein first saw them perform in the Cavern Club in January 1962 and from there, the Fab Four became global superstars. In his time, Epstein also made his name through managing the likes of Gerry and the Pacemakers, Cilla Black and Billy J Kramer and the Dakotas.
