While Texas Longhorns fans may have thought that Quinn Ewers returned to his elite form following last week's bludgeoning of the Florida Gators, the third-year quarterback had a tough showing against the Arkansas Razorbacks in Week 12. When halftime of the No. 3 Longhorns' game rolled around, Ewers' stat line was night and day different from last week's.
With Texas leading 10-0 heading into the break, Ewers completed just 16-of-27 passes for 130 yards and a score, while also being sacked a couple of times. His inability to take advantage of a defense that gave up 63 points in their last game against Ole Miss has fans furious, with many of them ready for the Ewers era in Austin to end so the Arch Manning era can begin. "The Quinn Ewers era cant be done soon enough man.
. dude has some of the worst feet and pocket presence in CFB," wrote one fan. "At some point Texas has to look at Quinn Ewers and just say you’re not the guy, you can’t have this talented roster go to waste," added another.
Genuinely cannot think of a more frustrating Texas player to watch than Quinn Ewers. "Texas is the most talented team in the country. They are being held back by Quinn Ewers.
He's just not good enough. He hasn't really improved in 3 years at Texas. I just don't see it man," wrote another.
Steve Roberts-Imagn Images While the fans may be upset with his performance, Ewers was able to help Texas stave off the upset. The Longhorns went on to win 20-10 thanks to Ewers finding Matthew Golden, their second touchdown connection of the day with 9:05 remaining, effectively killing the Razorbacks' momentum. A win is a win, but clearly, the concern for Ewers has not gone away.
The Longhorns will host Kentucky next weekend before heading to College Station to take on Texas A&M. Related: Steve Sarkisian Makes Odd Admission About His Offense.
