Sometimes the stats tell all in these sorts of clashes, especially in the Premier League with a long run of form lasting years. Firstly, Everton failed to win any of their first three Premier League games against Brentford, but have now won each of their last three against the London side. Another stat that doesn't go Brentford's way is their record for conceding against the Toffees away from home.
They haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last six visits to Goodison Park. And they've even failed to score themselves in four four of those. Everton do need to reignite their home form as they've only won once at home this season, in what looks to be a tough one to predict with many teams struggling to win.
That is the case for the Bees on the road too, losing all five of their Premier League away games this season. However, no side has failed to score in more Premier League games this season than Everton with five. They've failed to score in their last two league games, earlier this month, against Southampton who picked up their first win of the season.
Brentford have won as many as five this season and haven't lost their opening six away games in a league campaign since the 60's, so they must get something here to stop the winless streak away at Everton at the same time. A draw would be a better price, but the Bees have not been drawing so far this season with just one in 11 games. They've alternated between winning and losing in the last five league games too but could pick up two in a row against struggling Everton.
The Toffees have only scored ten in the league so far, while Brentford have scored as many as 22. Everton have conceded 17 which isn't bad considering their position but fail to accompany that with the winning goal. Brentford have scored more but have conceded more which explains their inability to draw this season.
In their last five league games there's been winning score lines of 5-3, 4-3, and 3-2 so it will be interesting to see how they do defensively against a team struggling to score.
