March 6, 1928 - April 5, 2025 Ernest M. "Toochie" Rodriguez, 97, of Davenport, passed away at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House on Saturday, April 5, 5025, surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Weerts Funeral Home.



Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Burial will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the Lulac Council 10. Online condolences may be expressed at www.

edu/exhibits/show/people/ernestrodriguez . Ernest was born on March 6, 1928, in Holy City, Bettendorf, in Boxcar #8, to Norberto and Muggie (Adams) Rodriguez. The family relocated to Davenport in 1937.

Ernest graduated from Davenport High School in 1946. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1954, serving during the Korean Conflict. Ernest was united in marriage to Juanita Segobiano in 1959 in East Moline, ILL.

She preceded him in death on November 14, 2016. Ernest was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal as a Hispanic Employment Program Manager, retiring in 1990. Ernest was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Davenport.

He was a founding member of the LULAC Council 10 and served on the executive board of directors. He was also a member of the Illinois Migrant Council and the Civil Rights Council, Davenport. Ernest is survived by his children, Rebecca (Patrick) Konrad, Christine (Mike) Williams, Carlos Bernal, Yolanda Hayslett, Ernest Rodriguez Jr.

, Maria Gonzalez, Alfonso (Lisa) Rodriguez; 26 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sons, Martin Rodriguez and Phillip Rodriguez; granddaughter, Tracy Rodriguez; grandsons, Carlos Bernal Jr. and Christopher Moraetes; great-grandson, Trey Holst; siblings, Ermano, Nestora, Albert, Tom, Joyce, John, Patricia and Richard.
