March 10, 1955—October 18, 2024 On March 10, 1955, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather Ernest Eugene “Wink” Sheen was born in Twin Falls, Idaho to Glen Lamar Sheen and Vonda Vilate Hancock. He grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho, with his older brother Glen Russell Sheen, “Russ,” and his younger brother, Stephen Jay Sheen, died in infancy. With his dad being a teacher and coach, he tried many sports, one lasting result was a metal plate in his shoulder from a trampoline accident.

However, anyone who met him would know he was a diehard BYU football fan his whole life. KC Chiefs and their coach being added to his interest in recent years. Depending on the decade he would be called “Wink” based on his speed in high school track, or Eugene in his young adult years, finally Ernest as he settled into his professional adult years.

Other titles he held: Professor/teacher and/or Coach Sheen. Elder Sheen, as he served an honorable 2-year proselyting mission to Columbia, Venezuela for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After his mission, Ernest met and married the beautiful Lynn Marie Dudley on Dec.

22, 1975, in the Salt Lake LDS temple. They were blessed to be married for almost 49 years. Six daughters and three sons were born to them within the next two decades.

Ernest loved being a dad. He affectionately told his children bedtime stores including his own made-up ones: “the poof-ball man” and to wake them up his tone-deaf but endearing rendition of “Oh What a Beautiful Morning” or Zip-A-DEE-Do-Dah. Ernest always loved writing poetry, and all have his children have their own dedicated pieces.

He also was an avid reader and loved writing stories. Ernest was an academic and had degrees in English, ELL (Spanish) and Chemistry. He worked hard to support his family and was a dedicated provider with many interests and talents, he tried a variety of vocations.

Ernest was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many callings. He was often called upon by others to help give priesthood “end of life” blessings for their loved ones.

His nature was comforting, and he clearly knew about eternal families. He was an example to all, Ernest knew the importance of Sunday worship he was so dedicated to teaching his family, that he brought his children even when they were infants, and his wife could not attend. His family all knew when diapers were running low to check his suitcoat pockets.

A very memorable calling for him was when he got to be his oldest granddaughter’s primary teacher, he loved anytime with his grandkids. He is survived by wife, Lynn Dudley Sheen of Twin Falls; children, Sophia Sheen of Jerome, Emma (Jacob) Swenson of Jerome, Jennifer (Richard) Heiken of Kansas City, Ernest D.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen Lamar Sheen and Vonda Hancock; brothers, Stephen Jay Sheen and Glen Russell “Russ” Sheen; and grandson, Jethro Heiken.
