Brad Pitt made waves in Hollywood with his role in this 90s western film, and now is your last chance to watch it

Film fans don't have long left to watch this 1994 Brad Pitt classic film before it leaves Netflix in May. The story of three brothers and their father living a secluded life in the plains, Legends of the Fall came out early in Brad Pitt's journey to A-list status. Set in the wilderness of Montana, the drama follows the lives of these men over nearly 50 years and how nature, love, war, and history all affect their lives.

Viewers have taken to Rotten Tomatoes to hail the film, with one saying: "A must-see! A cult movie! The cast, the acting, the screenplay – everything so impactful and memorable, staying with you forever." Another added: "Epic movie. Can watch it over and over.

" The film depicts a number of historical moments, such as the First World War and the Prohibition era. After Colonel William Ludlow, played by Antony Hopkins, moves to a remote destination, builds a ranch, and raises a family of his own, his sons soon mature and form what appears to be an unbreakable bond. That is until their youngest brother falls in love.

After his fiancée joins the family, the eldest son finds himself falling for her before he soon discovers he may not be the only one with an unspoken crush. Passions between them grow, and Tristan, played by Brad Pitt, sets out to fight in the war, leaving behind both his family and his love that threatens to tear them all apart. A critic wrote: "Brad Pitt leads an epic Western highlighting the sprawling beauty and tragedy of life in this 1994 movie from The Last Samurai director Edward Zwick!" While it was Ridley Scott's Thelma & Louise that established Brad Pitt as Hollywood's hottest 'eye candy', it was Legends of the Fall that saw him in his first major lead role.

Brad received his first-ever Golden Globe nomination for his role as Tristan, which would go on to become the first of many nominations and wins. "I put this movie into the top 25 ever," a viewer wrote. "The book is an American classic, so the movie follows the same path on the plot, which I loved.

Superb acting by all actors involved in it. About photography, the takes are breathtaking; you just cannot do better than this." After gaining status as a 90s heartthrob, Brad went on to star in the hit movie Seven just a year later.

Sharing the screen with the likes of Morgan Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kevin Spacey, he played a detective that he declared at the time to be an intentionally different role from what he'd previously been known for. At the time of its release, he explained that he was ready to move away from "the pretty boy thing" and into playing characters with "flaws". It seems in doing so, Brad was onto something, as the film was a great success and made a massive total of $327 million at the international box office.

While Brad is now best known for his cult classic roles in films such as Fight Club and Mr and Mrs Smith, many fans still consider Legends of the Fall to be their favourite. A review reads: "Brad Pitt is so beautiful in this movie..

. what a script, and what a magnificent performance by Anthony Hopkins showing that he is a great actor. It's one of my favourite period movies.

" Legends of the Fall, the classic western film, is set to leave Netflix on May 1..
