A billing system error between February 2021 and September last year meant people who switched supplier or ended contracts did not get final bills within six weeks, as required. Many faced financial difficulty as energy prices, soared. Eon Next failed to give compensation payments of £30 or £60, while 100,000 customers were not told of remaining credit – worth £51 on average – and did not get refunds.
