WEATHER experts have urged people to make the most of the mini heat blast as “change is coming”. Temperatures will reach 21C in places today but the summer heat is not here to stay. MeteologixToday is set to be a scorcher[/caption]Weather is going to take a very wet turn from SaturdayGetty ImagesPosting on X this morning, Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather pinpointed exactly where those temperatures will hit.

He said: “Another glorious day of blue skies ahead and could get up to 21c in parts of West. Enjoy it as change is coming.”And Met Eireann also promise a “dry and sunny day” but warn it could be a little cooler along coasts.

Any mist and fog lingering this morning will clear as the day progresses but more will develop overnight. Much colder overnight too with temperatures down as low as 1C. Fog and mist will again clear Friday morning and mercury will reach 21C as the kids finish up school for the Easter break.

However, costal areas in the west and south could see that fog linger further into the morning giving a “cooler and duller” day. Yet more “dense” fog to form overnight with temperatures falling to 1C. And unfortunately the weather is not set to pick back up from there as Met Eireann warn of an colder switch.

They said: “Transitioning to cooler and more unsettled weather this weekend.” Temperatures staying mild on Saturday with highs of 12C to 16C and some “hazy sunshine” breaking through. Met Eireann’s Liz Walsh said: “Saturday will be a bit of a transitional day.

It will be a cloudier day overall but some hazy sunshine will still occur. “Mist and fog patches are going to gradually clear through the morning and many areas will be dry but a few patches of light rain and drizzle will develop later in the afternoon and evening.”On Saturday night scattered showers will persist, particularly in western counties with 3C to 7C temperatures.

‘NOTICEABLY COOLER’Sunday then is a complete switch from the conditions we have seen over the past two weeks. Rain, hail and even thunder are set to batter the country after a short-lived sunny start to the Easter holidays. And temperatures will plummet to 0C overnight with frost.

Met Eireann warn: “Scattered showers in the west will spread eastwards over the country on Sunday morning with sunny spells in between. “Some of the showers could turn heavy with hail and the chance of the odd rumble of thunder. “It’ll be a noticeably cooler day with highest temperatures of just 9C to 12C in mostly moderate southwest to west winds, increasing fresh at times along Atlantic coasts.

“Showers will become isolated on Sunday night and largely confined to western and southern coasts as winds falls light southwest to south. Cloud amounts will vary but clear spells will develop. “Lowest temperatures of 0C to 4C with a touch of grass frost possible.

”Monday will start dry but “heavy” spells of rain and hail will creep back in. Showers will be “fairly widespread” in 9C to 12C temperatures to start next week. MeteologixHeavy rain is expected over Sunday and Monday[/caption].
