English Actor Russell Brand Faces Rape, Sexual Assault Charges, Refutes Allegations

English actor and comedian Russell Brand has been formally charged with rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault in connection with incidents alleged to have occurred between 1999 and 2005.According to the Metropolitan Police, an investigation into the actor began in September 2023 after several complaints were received.They also urged anyone impacted by the matter to reach out and speak with the authorities.

The allegations involve four separate women.Brand allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in Westminster, London, in 2001, and is also accused of raping another in Bournemouth back in 1999.Additionally, the 49-year-old was charged with sexually assaulting a woman in Westminster between 2004 and 2005, as well as committing oral rape and sexual assault against another woman in 2004.

“We carefully reviewed the evidence after a police investigation into allegations made following the broadcast of a Channel 4 documentary in September 2023,” Jaswant Narwal, the prosecutor, said.“We have concluded that Russell Brand should be charged with offences including rape, sexual assault and indecent assault.“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds everyone that criminal proceedings are active, and the defendant has the right to a fair trial.

“It is extremely important that there be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”Brand, however, refuted the accusations and is scheduled to appear in court on May 2.The actor said in a video on his X page on Friday that he had never engaged in non-consensual behaviour and was not a rapist.
