Jude Bellingham is at risk of a UEFA-imposed ban and for one England fan, it might not be a bad thing. The Real Madrid star is being investigated for a crotch-grabbing gesture performed after scoring a superb equaliser deep into added time in Sunday’s 2-1 win against Slovakia. Bellingham immediately set the record straight on the incident, claiming it was an inside joke between himself and friends despite some initially believing it was aimed at the Slovakian bench.

UEFA are now working to determine whether the 21-year-old breached article 11/2b, which requires anyone subject to UEFA regulations to respect the ‘principles of ethical conduct, loyalty, integrity and sportsmanship’. If the investigation does not rule in the midfielder’s favour then he could face either a suspension or a fine. A suspension would see Bellingham ruled out of Saturday’s crunch Euro 2024 quarter-final clash against Switzerland.



Bellingham has come to England’s rescue twice at the tournament and most would say his presence would be missed against a well-drilled Swiss outfit. But one fan has an entirely different theory on the situation and believes a suspension for England’s golden boy could prove to be a blessing. “Controversially, I actually think that Bellingham getting banned for the next match might not even be a bad thing,” England fan Mike told talkSPORT hosts Jeff Stelling and Gabby Agbonlahor.
