A POPULAR Irish pub is set to close for good on New Year’s Day - with punters saying it's the "end of an era". Wrights Cafe Bar in Swords , Dublin, is closing up after 23 years in business. The Wrights team have expressed their gratitude to everyone who has been part of the journey.
Taking to Facebook , the pub shared the news to all their customers in a statement. They said: "We’ve got some big news! "We are closing our doors for the very last time after this NYE. It’s been an incredible 23 years but it’s time for something different.
"It’s the end of an era but...
. Watch this space." The owners thanked their loyal customers, whose support was the foundation of the pub's success and made it a legendary spot over the years.
The Wrights Cafe Bar first opened its doors 23 years ago in 2001, and had became one of the most popular spots for a night out in Dublin. And the owners of the award winning pub revealed that it is now time for something different. They added: "After 23 years of phenomenal success and multiple awards it's time for something different.
"We have loved making memories and celebrating the good times with you. "It's the end of the cafe bar era but ..

" The pub is now urging its loyal customers to join them for the last dance on New Years Eve before they close their doors. Customers rushed to the comments to share their thoughts on the closure. One person said: "Unforgettable place! Thank you for all great memories, Wrights Cafe Bar.
" Another wrote: "Hopefully what comes next does you justice, hopefully something quite similar but with a new flair, best of luck whatever it is." Meanwhile in Cork , Roastie Restaurant in Midleton has revealed on Facebook that they have decided to close its doors with the last service scheduled for December 15. They said: "Due to the ongoing challenges facing the hospitality sector, we have made a very tough decision to close Roastie Restaurant in Midleton.
"This has been a tough decision to make as we have worked tirelessly to build a small family run business. "We have had nothing but support from all our regular loyal customers and guests who have travelled from across Ireland to taste our food. "Thank you all once again from the bottom of our heart.
We will miss all our Roastie family but will always remember the love and support you gave us.".
