Emmerdale's Lisa Riley 'gutted' as co-star leaves ITV soap

Emmerdale star Paula Lane broke cast members' hearts after her final scenes as Ella Forster hit ITV, as the tortured character was whisked off in a police car.

Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley (Mandy Dingle) paid tribute to pal and co-star Paula Lane (Ella Forster) as her departure was confirmed following just 16 months on the ITV soap, and teased her new role. The pair had been close both on and off-screen, with Mandy supporting Ella as she struggled to form friendships due to a dark secret from her past. Ella had committed a murder in a fit of jealous rage at the age of 11 - and the victim was her best friend.

She changed her identity after her prison sentence, but her past continued to haunt her, and viewers saw the distraught character heading back to jail after a dramatic showdown with Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson). Now Lisa Riley has taken to Instagram to share a selfie of her and Paula together, as she lamented that her beloved co-star is moving on. She wrote sorrowfully: "Going to miss you @paula_laney I am missing you.
