Claire King has hinted that this may be the last Christmas for her character, Kim Tate, on Emmerdale. Kim Tate, the formidable matriarch played by Claire King, could face her final festive season in the ITV soap. With over thirty years stirring up drama, Kim's marriage to Will Taylor was thriving before she was betrayed by him and his ex.
Tensions escalated with the entrance of Peter, Kim's one-time solicitor and old flame. Together with Will and an unknown accomplice, they're scheming against Kim. They have a vow renewal planned for Christmas Day, masterminded by the deceptive Peter to humiliate Kim amidst her nearest and dearest.
Whether Will proceeds with the plan remains uncertain. During her appearance on This Morning, Claire opened up about what lies in store: "It's been a little bit challenging with this storyline. It's been lovely because I love working with Dean.
So that's been fantastic but it's been a little bit hard because of the subject matter and things. But I can't go into that! I know, I'm desperate to tell you but I'll be shot. "Will's plotting with Peter, who was Kim's financial adviser.
I don't think he is anymore, I haven't seen him in a while. But there's someone else pulling the strings behind. Kim had a little dalliance with Peter to get back at Will, who had a fling with his ex-wife.
It's all very interwoven and very complicated - but there's someone behind the scenes who is pulling the strings and they want to give the surprise on Christmas Day. Kim's looking forward to Christmas Day because she's going to have all her family back, they're going to renew their wedding vows - so it's all going to be really lovely." However, the actress hinted that this could be Kim's final Christmas in the village, reports Leeds Live .
When questioned about her future on the show, she replied: "My contract runs out in June and if they decide to keep me on and I decide to accept, then I might be here longer. But at the moment, yes this is her last Christmas." In the short term, though, Kim will likely be hell-bent on revenge - and having killed before, someone else may find themselves spending their last Christmas at Home Farm or in the village.
Claire warned that Kim will be furious when she discovers what has been going on behind her back, saying: "I don't think there is a word for how angry she will be. She's going to be positively rampantly livid. I think she will want retaliation very quickly.
" *Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX..
