Emmerdale fans are convinced that Anthony Fox isn't really dead, and that one villager is secretly nursing him back to health

Emmerdale audiences suspect that Anthony Fox might still be alive, with many believing that one resident is "secretly nursing him back to health". Soap viewers will remember the shocking moment in January when Aaron Dingle lashed out at Anthony, only to return later and find his nemesis dead at the depot. Aaron was tormented by the belief that he had unintentionally killed Anthony and implored his partner John Sugden to dispose of the corpse.

Yet, unbeknownst to him, it was Ruby Fox-Milligan who was the true perpetrator of the crime. A revealing Emmerdale flashback then detailed how Anthony had inflicted sexual abuse on his daughter as a teenager, and was shockingly revealed to be the biological father of Ruby's daughter, Steph. Ruby managed to keep this harrowing secret under wraps for over three decades before confiding in her spouse Caleb and his siblings, Chas and Cain, reports Leeds Live .

Initially, John was reluctant to disclose the location of Anthony's body to Aaron, fearing it could exacerbate their situation. However, under pressure, John eventually confessed to burying Anthony in an makeshift woodland grave. John then hosted a meeting with the Dingles at a secret location, where he explained that if one person doesn't stick to their plan, then the entire group will fall apart.

Following these events, Ruby has been seen visiting the final resting place of her father, breaking down under the heavy burden of her actions. Ever since John set foot in the Dales in August 2024, viewers have been eyeing him with suspicion, with many convinced that he's concealing a big secret. Emmerdale fans have flocked to social media, spinning theories that Anthony might not be dead after all, suspecting that John might be secretly keeping him alive in the village.

On an Emmerdale fan page on Facebook, a viewer speculated, "I don't think Anthony is dead at all. John's helping him for some reason," with another adding: "I think he's still alive. John has him held up somewhere.

" Another fan pondered on the possibility: "What if he is not dead but John saved him and told him never to return," with someone else suggesting, "Is John keeping Anthony in a barn and nursing him back to health?" Meanwhile, other fans do believe that Anthony is dead, but aren't sure that John has been honest about where he buried him. Over on Reddit, sceptics voiced their doubts with one commenting, "I don't think that's where Anthony is buried, I can bet that if they dug up his grave the body wouldn't be there," with another sharing: "Totally agree that Anthony isn't buried there." Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.

30pm and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX.
