Cain Dingle's significant birthday is on the horizon, but his recent shocking affair with Ruby Miligan-Fox has left him in no mood for festivities. Moira, on the other hand, is determined to make it special - until an unexpected revelation turns her world upside down.

In other developments, a flashback to Ruby's 16th birthday uncovers a startling secret, while Kim Tate and Will Taylor progress their relationship. Frightened, Moira prepares to receive her pathology results alone. Meanwhile, blocked by Jai's inconveniently parked car and spurred on by a frantic voicemail from Moira, Cain is stopped by Swirling. An agitated Cain tries to hurry things along, but his aggressive behaviour leads to an unfortunate arrest.

3. ) Moira receives her results Moira is fuming when Cain shows up drunk (Image: ITV) A disheartened Cain leaves Swirling in a state of confusion when he requests a private phone conversation with Moira. Moira is shocked to learn from Cain that he has been arrested.

She reassures him that her test results were fine, but confesses to a devastated Matty that she'll require radiotherapy, leading to an emotional moment between them. 4. ) Cain burdened by remorse The villager is racked with guilt (Image: ITV) Even though he's let off with a caution, Cain shows no interest in Swirling's empathetic understanding.

Upon finding Cain inebriated in the allotment, supportive Liam steps in to assist his friend. When Liam brings him home, Moira, irate at Cain, discloses his surprise party and demands he compose himself for the following day. However, guilt-ridden Cain feels compelled to reveal the truth.

5. ) Ruby and Anthony at odds Anthony continues to cause trouble (Image: ITV) Brenda inadvertently reveals Tracy and Caleb's affair, casting a shadow over Anthony's mood. Anthony confronts Caleb about his infidelity.

Defending her actions and Caleb's, Ruby is left uneasy by Anthony's relentless questioning. Soon, hopeful Ruby begins to mend her relationship with Steph. References to past events from Anthony leave Ruby feeling unsettled, despite her outward focus on moving forward.

In a flashback to 1992, it's Ruby's sixteenth birthday and she recalls getting along well with teenage Rob. The audience will soon get a peek into Ruby's past. 7.

Realising that he's caused Moses to not want to be around him, Ross feels defeated, and Charity stands firm as she sends him away. Ross notices the strong bond between Mack and Moses, giving up his plans to make amends with his son.

8. ) Tom persists with his plotting Tom causes trouble from prison (Image: ITV) Angel persuades Jimmy to read Tom's letter and he is unsettled - but recognises the attempt to manipulate them. After her emotional manipulation, Jimmy is persuaded to pay him a visit.

Soon, Tom resorts to fake tears when Jimmy comes to see him, but Tom is shocked to hear Jimmy will only give him a chance if he alters his plea. However, when his nephew shifts the blame onto Belle, Jimmy departs upset, realising Tom can never change. An exasperated Ollie tries to persuade Tom not to concoct another scheme to halt the trial and later Angelica is summoned by Ollie, who has a task for her.

Concerned about Angel's continuing connection with Tom, neither Jimmy nor Nicola realise she's about to publicly share a video which she hopes will aid his cause. 9. ) Kim and Will's wedding announcement Kim takes the next step in her romance with Will (Image: ITV) Pretending to be smitten with Kim, secretive Will seizes the first opportunity upon their return to schedule a meeting with Peter.

Eager to execute their plan, Will's puzzled when Peter informs him there's been a change in situation. Will is advocating for full disclosure regarding the delay in their plan to bring down Kim, but Peter declines to contact the enigmatic third party, instructing Will to be patient. Later, Will is consumed with guilt when Kim goes above and beyond for Christmas , viewing it as a fresh start for their relationship.

Following Peter's instructions, Will proposes to Kim about renewing their vows on Christmas day. He feels guilty when an unsuspecting Kim becomes emotional at his seemingly romantic proposal. Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.
