Emanuel Pastreich officially announced on Friday that he is stepping down as an independent candidate for president of the United States and has been appointed as the director of the newly established Center for Truth Politics at Green Liberty. Green Liberty is a growing political movement that opposes plutocracy, demands accountability for state crimes, and calls for the end of plutocrats' assault on civil society. Pastreich stated that although he is ending his campaign, he does not recognize the results of the 2024 presidential elections.

He has demanded that Donald Trump step down as he is implicated in multiple state crimes, including the COVID-19 operation, which disqualifies him from holding public office. Pastreich has also asked for a special election that is transparent and monitored by international observers but says he would not run as a candidate if such an election is held. Pastreich will continue as president of the Asia Institute, a think tank dedicated to Asian environmental and geopolitical issues with offices in Seoul, Tokyo, Bangkok, and Washington, D.

C. He is also an associate at Yale’s Council on East Asian Studies. Pastreich stated, “I hope to help train and prepare a new generation of truth politics candidates in the United States and worldwide who can take on the deep corruption surrounding the new technocracy, the techno-totalitarian political structure which is trying to destroy most of humanity.

Running for public office later is entirely possible, but it is not the right move or a priority right now.” Green Liberty started as a caucus in the Green Party that called for addressing state crimes and demanding accountability from government, corporations, and plutocrats. It has expanded to serve as a registered PAC and a platform that permits truth-politics candidates for office to express themselves and prepare their campaigns, starting with the 2026 state and congressional elections.

Pastreich ran with Cornel West as one of only two candidates in the Green Party in September 2023. Still, as he and West could not express their opinions within the party's controlled discourse, they left and ran as independents. Concerning his plans, Pastreich remarked, “The electoral system is so broken now that there is no point in running for anything.

I use my experience running on a truth politics platform since February 2020 to help younger people launch their political careers.” He did not rule out running for office but suggested it was not his primary goal..
