On Sunday, Musk clarified that the timeline for the first crewed mission will be contingent upon the success of the uncrewed flights. Should the uncrewed missions achieve safe landings, crewed missions are projected to be launched in four years.



Conversely, if any difficulties arise, the timeline for crewed missions may be extended by an additional two years, according to Musk. Musk, recognized for frequently altering the timelines regarding the readiness of Starship, stated earlier this year that the initial uncrewed Starship mission to Mars is expected to occur within five years, while the first crewed landing is anticipated within seven years. In June, a Starship rocket successfully endured a dramatic, hypersonic re-entry from space and accomplished a significant landing demonstration in the Indian Ocean, marking the completion of a comprehensive test mission around the world on the rocket's fourth attempt.

Musk is relying on Starship to achieve his objective of developing a large, versatile next-generation spacecraft that can transport both individuals and cargo to the moon within this decade, with the ultimate aim of reaching Mars.
