Elon Musk has been roasted by fans after the X CEO asked Blizzard for an update on the development of the next Diablo game. On top of being in charge of both Tesla and X, Elon Musk is also known for being an avid gamer. His love of ARPGs like Path of Exile 2 and Diablo is well documented, although he previously admitted to boosting his level in both.
When it comes to gaming, he’s perhaps best known for Diablo 4, as he often shares his achievements and was even technically the world’s best player for a brief time. Now, though, he’s come under fire from fans after he urged Blizzard to hurry with Diablo 5. Elon Musk slammed for calling Diablo 4 engine “dated” Blizzard recently shared a roadmap for Diablo 4, confirming new expansions and crossovers coming in 2025 and beyond.
However, despite the wealth of content in the works, Musk wasn’t satisfied. Instead, he wanted to know when the sequel was coming and even called out the engine of the current game. “Cool.
When will there be Diablo V? Is that in development?” he asked in a reply. “The core engine is getting rather dated.” Cool.
When will there be Diablo V? Is that in development? The core engine is getting rather dated. Many fans didn’t take too kindly to Musk’s comments, especially considering that Diablo 4 is less than two years old. “He’s gotta be the fakest gamer alive,” said one reply.
“This is like being a kid...
When you’d throw all the cheat codes at a game and wonder why you get bored of it in 2 hours,” added another. Meanwhile, others defended Diablo 4’s engine, arguing that it still runs fine and isn’t as “dated” as he was suggesting. Related Elon Musk leaks Amsongold DMs after unfollowing streamer over POE 2 boosting drama “‘The core engine is getting kind of dated,’ it’s like if you asked a 57-year-old who’s never held a controller to talk like a nerd,” said another X user.
“He’s so fake it’s unbelievable.” he is such a loser. the game came out 2 years ago and is on a new or modified engine.
if game engines get outdated in under 2 years i think the gaming industry is in trouble https://t.co/QgEp6QgQdH Blizzard have previously hinted that the wait between Diablo games won’t be as long as the 11 years between Diablo 3 and Diablo 4. However, with plans already in place to support Diablo 4 for years to come, it’s still unlikely that a sequel will arrive any time soon.
