Billionaire and unelected US government official Elon Musk abruptly ended a gaming livestream in an apparent ‘rage quit’ after an influx of trolls and critics seemingly caused him to lose focus. The 53-year-old Tesla owner departed a live-streamed session of Path of Exile 2 on Saturday (5 April) after the game’s chat function was overwhelmed with trolls accusing him of “ruining the country” and having “no real friends.”Musk has become an increasingly divisive figure in US politics and beyond thanks to his actions under the newly-created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) – a department named after the X/Twitter owner’s favourite cryptocurrency.
A part of a campaign to cut US spending, Musk’s department has made swaths of cuts to vital sections of the government, including funding cuts and mass layoffs to various probationary and civil servant workers, including in the education, health, and energy departments. The unelected businessman has also been heavily criticised for his personal views on a variety of topics, including accusations of antisemitism after he responded to a false online post claiming Jewish people have been pushing hatred against white people, saying it was the “actual truth.”Elon Musk gives an alleged Nazi salute during a speech.

One set of comments which repeated that Musk “ruined the country just like you ruined all your marriages” seemed to get to the billionaire, who immediately blocked the user for, what he says, was “spamming the chat.”elon musk spotted on the verge of tears while live streaming pic.twitter.

The comment, which is highly unlikely to be from St. Clair, reads: “I have no other means of contacting you so I bought [Path of Exiles 2] early access just for this. Please pay your child support.
Thank you Elon.”Completely silent after the comment was spammed in the game’s chat function, Musk eventually ended the livestream after dying in-game and claiming he had “lost connection.”Musk has not publicly addressed the fiasco at the time of reporting, instead spending the time to further spread conspiracies about social security and using the slur “r******d” in a variety of posts.
