Elon Musk, the father of 12 and the world's richest man is not just content with his own large brood; he's on a mission to prevent what he sees as an impending population collapse. The Tesla mogul, who has been appointed to a new role in President-elect Donald Trump's White House cabinet , has been vocal about his concerns, even going so far as to reportedly offer his sperm to friends and acquaintances. In a tweet from 2022, Musk warned: "Population collapse due to low birthrates is a much bigger risk to civilization than global warming.

(And I do think global warming is a major risk)." He doubled down on this sentiment in February, tweeting: "I'm doing my best to encourage more people to become parents and ideally have three or more kids, so humanity can grow. "The population collapse in most countries is a tragedy.

Sales of adult diapers should never exceed sales of baby diapers!" But Musk's advocacy may have crossed into personal territory, with The New York Times reporting that he's made offers of his semen, including to Nicole Shanahan, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s running mate, who is said to have declined.

Last year, at a dinner party attended by Elon Musk, the billionaire reportedly offered to provide sperm to a married couple he had only met socially a few times. The couple had mentioned their struggles with conception during the meal, which was hosted by a prominent Silicon Valley tech executive, prompting Musk's unusual offer. The publication also reported that Musk boasted about his many children at the event.

Musk, who has recently aligned himself with right-wing politics and the 'MAGA' movement, is known for his pro-natalist stance, advocating for an increase in birth rates. However, not everyone appreciates his comments on the matter. Tensions rose when pop icon Taylor Swift ended her endorsement of Kamala Harris with ' Taylor Swift , Childless Cat Lady', referencing Vice President-elect JD Vance's 2021 Fox News interview statement that Democrats were "a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives".

In a peculiar exchange, Musk answered Taylor's remarks by saying: "Fine Taylor . . .

you win . . .

I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life." The comment raised eyebrows among X app users, as one found it thoroughly "creepy," commenting: "So this is what ick looks like." Another user reacted: "This is so weird man.

" Nevertheless, fears around plummeting population figures appear to be unmerited. Wired mentions that consensus among studies suggests the global population is expected to hit its zenith in the latter half of the 21st century before stabilizing or subtly decreasing. Patrick Gerland, who heads the Population Estimates and Projections Section at the United Nations, thinks referring to these trends as a catastrophic drop 'is probably too dramatic'.

As per UN data, the world population had nearly hit 8.2 billion by mid-2024 and is forecasted to swell to 10.3 billion within 60 years, subsequently falling to about 10.
