Elon Musk agreed to be interviewed by Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show,” so long as the interview runs in its entirety . The show accepted his offer. The exchange played out on Musk’s social media platform after one X user suggested the nation might gain a better understanding of what the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is doing if the billionaire-in-charge took his case to Stewart’s Comedy Central audience.
“I will do it if the show airs unedited,” Musk replied Wednesday to Stewart, “The Daily Show” and Farzad Media, which first made the suggestion . “We’d be delighted!” the show’s account responded. Stewart got so worked up trashing DOGE on his Monday night show that he smashed a mug on his desk and cut open his hand .
“I’ll be going to the hospital soon,” Stewart laughed as blood trickled from his wound. Musk, who spent nearly $300 million to put Trump back in office, was tapped by the president to advise DOGE in slashing government costs and services. Stewart meanwhile returned to host Monday night episodes of “The Daily Show” last February, after ending his successful 16-year run in 2015. Since then, he’s had no shortage of criticism for Trump and Musk. On Thursday’s episode of his “Weekly Show” podcast, Stewart accused Musk of wrongly treating civil servants as “ the enemy .
” Many X users expressed skepticism about whether Musk would try to match wits with Stewart in front of TV cameras and a live audience..
