The Summerville Elks Lodge No. 2719 hosted its annual Spring Golf Fundraising Tournament this past April 19 at Berkeley Country Club, raising $29,370.61 to support various charitable initiatives.

After expenses, the net proceeds amounted to $20,594.07, which will be distributed to several local and national causes. The tournament attracted 120 golfers and was supported by approximately 50 volunteers, many of whom were Elks members and their spouses.



The event also featured nearly 70 hole sponsors and 55 prize sponsors, who donated a variety of raffle items, ranging from golf passes and equipment to gift baskets. Cash prizes totaling $1,000 were awarded to the top four teams, while additional prizes were given for achievements such as Closest to the Pin and Straightest Drive. After the tournament, participants, sponsors and volunteers were treated to a prime rib banquet at the lodge.

In addition to the meal, attendees had the opportunity to win donated door prizes, and sponsors were thanked for their contributions to the event's success. The proceeds from the tournament will fund a range of charitable initiatives during the 2024-25 Elks year, such as scholarships for local students to initiatives benefiting veterans and youth, Alzheimer's research and community service projects. The approved allocations include: Elks National Foundation (ENF): $3,000 Lodge Scholarships Committee: $10,000 Lodge Veterans Committee: $1,000 Lodge Youth Activities Committee: $1,000 Lodge Alzheimer's Committee (ARK of SC): $3,000 Lodge Community Service Awards: $1,000 Lodge Tunnel to Towers Hole Sponsor: $250 2025 Start-Up Expenses: $1,344.
