Uniontown Elizabeth Ann Fertal Bizik, 83, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, October 16, 2024. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Andrew; and is survived by her loving family: her husband, Joseph; son, Joseph Jr. “Bo” and daughter-in-law, Kimberly.

Elizabeth was born April 8, 1941, in Searights, to parents Joseph Fertal and Elizabeth Shimko Fertal. While growing up Elizabeth enjoyed singing with her sisters, Eileen and Mary Jo. Liska, as she was known, needed a ride home from a sock hop.



Joseph became her knight in shining armor and drove her home. When he purchased his first car, a ’55 Chevy, Annie, as he called her, said, “If you can afford a car, you can afford to marry me.” They were married September 3, 1960, and celebrated 64 years of marriage this year.

They welcomed their son, Joey, in 1962 and settled in Baldwin in southwest Pennsylvania in 1966. Annie and Joseph later returned to Uniontown in 2007. Elizabeth was employed in retail at Metzer’s in Uniontown, GeeBees in Pleasant Hills, Joseph A.

Hornes in Whitehall, Lazarus in Century III Mall and Macy’s in South Hills Village. Elizabeth was a fabulous cook, gardener and an avid reader. She decorated her home with her beautiful crafts including painting, ceramics, and needlepoint.

She enjoyed going on many cruises with her friends and going to Ocean City, Md. with her family. She was a long-time member of the St.

Joseph Choir, Christian Mothers, and Polish Heritage Club. Viewing for Elizabeth will be from 2 to 7 p.m.

Sunday, October 20, in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, 603 N. Gallatin Avenue Ext.

, Uniontown, PA 15401. A prayer service will be held at 9:15 a.m.

Monday, October 20, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St.

Joseph Church, 180 Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, PA 15401. Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park Brier Hill..
