KAJANG: Police have remanded an elderly couple for alleged child abuse at a private childcare shelter in Cheras.

KAJANG: Police have remanded an elderly couple for alleged child abuse at a private childcare shelter in Cheras.District police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said the husband and wife have been remanded for one day to assist in investigations into the case."They will be released on police bail once the remand order expires.

"We have recorded statements from five individuals to assist with further investigations," he said when contacted today.It was reported that police arrested an elderly couple for alleged child abuse at a private childcare shelter in Batu 9. The couple, aged 66 and 68, were arrested at 3.



20pm on April 9 following police reports lodged against them.The first report was made by an 18-year-old local male, a former resident of the shelter, who claimed he was verbally abused and slapped on the left cheek by the shelter owner for refusing to obey instructions.Two other reports were lodged by witnesses who alleged that the owners had also inflicted emotional and mental abuse on the children living at the centre.
