Prayagraj: A 62-year-old man was allegedly thrashed to death by his younger brother and his wife at Mandapur Umri Kotila village in Pratapgarh on Monday. Initial police investigations revealed that an internal dispute between the two brothers led to the killing. The deceased was identified as Harsh Bahadur Singh .
An FIR under section 105 of BNS (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) was lodged against Jagannath Singh and his wife Puja Singh. Family members told police that Jagannath and his wife Puja intentionally made an abortive bid to lock Harsh Bahadur inside the house, acknowledging that the elderly brother was a heart patient. When he resisted, the couple allegedly thrashed him and left him unconscious.
Family members also told police that the slain elderly brother was a witness in a case against Jagannath pending in court. Vehicles seized for overloading: Kaushambi police on Monday claimed to have seized 13 vehicles on the charges of overloading. Police said a special joint drive was launched by police, mining department and transport department on the intervening night of March 23 and 24 at Saini and Mohabbatpur Painsa areas.
