‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ plantation drive at Gadvasu

Ludhiana: A plantation drive was conducted on Saturday under the ‘ Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam ’ campaign at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University ( Gadvasu ) to raise awareness about the importance of tree planting as a way of gratitude to Mother Earth. This drive was initiated during the annual zonal workshop of KVK of Zone-1 (Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh) The drive was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjay Kumar, chairman, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, New Delhi; Dr.

Extension), New Delhi; and Dr. Parvender Sheoran, director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana, highlighted the need for collective action in safeguarding the environment. Vice-chancellor Dr JPS Gill emphasised that this campaign was not just about planting trees, but it was about nurturing life and ensuring a greener future for the next generations.

The plantation drive was held in the presence of dignitaries and officers of the university. Director students’ welfare-cum-estate officer Dr PS Brar said in this drive around 250 saplings would be planted and an emphasis on planting native species of trees would be given to support the local ecosystem and biodiversity. He congratulated the landscaping wing of the university for their ongoing efforts in this campaign.
