Emergency services have been tackling two wildfires into the evening. One of the moorland fires broke out just after 4.15pm in Egerton, with eight fire engines being scrambled to the scene just off Longworth Road.
The road remains closed according to traffic alerts. Villagers were urged to keep their windows closed and to stay away from the area. The special wildfire unit was also called to the incident.
The fire broke out as firefighters were dealing with a moorland fire in Chorley. That blaze broke out just after 3.30pm.

Firefighters used aqualeaders, beaters and blowers to extinguish the fire and continue to beat out hotspots. A number of wildfires have broken out in Greater Manchester and Lancashire over recent days, with the latest one being in Helmshore just two days ago.
The hot weather prompted fire officers to urge people to be careful while walking on moorland. However, rain is forecast with temperatures set to become much cooler in the coming days..
