Estonian ehailing service Bolt is set to launch in Malaysia soon, according to a notice displayed on the app's main homepage. Bolt currently operates in over 45 countries, including neighbouring Thailand. The transportation app's announcement follows its licensing by the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad).

An Oct 9 update on the agency's website lists Bolt Services MY Sdn Bhd among other licensed ehailing operators already active in the country. In August, Bolt began accepting applications for Malaysian drivers, while earlier in March, the company posted a LinkedIn job listing for a Kuala Lumpur-based country manager, further indicating that a local launch is imminent. It is currently unclear if the ehailing service provider will also be expanding its food delivery platform, Bolt Food, to Malaysia, though it does not appear to be recruiting delivery riders as of publication.
