September 21, (THEWILL) – Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are currently absent at the polling unit of Asue Ighodalo, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the ongoing governorship election in Edo State. THEWILL reports that Ighodalo is expected to vote at Okaegben Ward 1, Polling Unit 3, located at a vocational centre in Ewohimi, Edo Central Senatorial District. While the usually vibrant Idinrio community in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area, appeared calm and quiet with little activity, the absence of INEC officials has raised concerns.

Voters who had gathered at polling units expressed their frustration over the situation. “We came out early to exercise our civic duty, but it’s disheartening to see no officials here. We hope they arrive soon,” a voter remarked.

“I’ve been here since morning, but there’s no sign of any electoral officials or party stakeholders. This is unusual. By this time, we expected to see the INEC officials setting up.

It’s concerning,” another voter said. THEWILL reports that the delayed arrival of INEC officials may not be unconnected to the heavy downpour, which started as early as 6:30 a.m.
