SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Minnesota Duluth forward Morgan Eckerle and defender Kailey Tomzak recorded their first goals of the season for the Bulldogs in a 2-2 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference draw against Sioux Falls on Friday at Bob Young Field.

Eckerle got the Bulldogs on the board in the 38th minute of the match with an assist by Jessica Eischens. Prior to Eischen’s tally, UMD had been held scoreless in the first half of every game since its 1-0 win over Minnesota-Crookston on Sept. 29.

ADVERTISEMENT The one-goal advantage failed to last into halftime, though, as Alivia Tindall evened the score at one apiece for the Cougars in the 44th minute. In the second half, Tomzak put the Bulldogs ahead once more at 2-1 at the 66 minute mark with the first goal of her collegiate career. Just as it appeared UMD was going to hold on for victory, the Cougars added the game-tying goal in the 86th minute by Hannah Welch.

UMD goalkeeper Kaycee Chavez ended the match with five saves, while USF’s Delani Daubman finished with four. UMD (2-10-2, 2-7-2 NSIC) will travel to Marshall for its next match against Southwest Minnesota State on Sunday, Oct. 27.
