Fans had been teased with the arrival of a mystery character, and all was unveiled in the episode aired on Monday (April 14.). Sonia was left stunned when she found out that her sister Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) had secretly appeared on a true crime podcast to discuss Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman).

Adding to her distress, Sonia was hounded by Mo Harris and Kim' Fox's tactless tour for true crime enthusiasts, causing her to worry about the potential future impact on baby Julia. After patching things up with Bianca, the sisters headed to Harry's Barn for a drink and some forward planning. However, their peace was disrupted when Bianca noticed a man from the tour lurking nearby.

She confronted him, only to discover he was their mum Carol's ex-boyfriend – and Sonia's biological father – Terry Cant. Terry revealed that he decided to reconnect after hearing the podcast, hoping to make amends for lost time. Despite Bianca's warnings for him to keep his distance, based on what she'd heard about his past from their mum, Terry ignored her advice, reports Plymouth Live .

He later showed up at Sonia's doorstep, introducing himself to his shocked daughter. The question now is, how will Sonia handle this unexpected revelation? For those wondering who Terry Cant is in EastEnders , he's the former boyfriend of Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson), father to Sonia, and grandfather to Bex and Julia. He had never appeared on screen until now, despite being first mentioned way back in March 1995.

Terry and Carol crossed paths in 1984 and quickly started a relationship. At the time, Carol already had two kids, Bianca and Robbie Jackson (played by Dean Gaffney), so Terry stepped in as a father figure to them, as their biological dads were not around. Despite their constant bickering, Terry and Carol welcomed a daughter together, Sonia.

After Sonia's birth, Terry left and Carol's husband Alan Jackson took her children under his wing, raising them as his own. EastEnders fans will recall that Sonia tried to find Terry's name online in June 2020 in an attempt to get in touch with her dad, after years of him being absent. In May 2021, Terry turned up in the Square looking for his daughter, having received a letter from her.

They reunite and start to bond, getting to know each other. However, in September of the same year, it was revealed that the man claiming to be Terry is actually Tom (Rocky) Cotton, the dodgy uncle of Dotty Cotton, played by Brian Conley, who planned to con Sonia out of Dot Cotton's inheritance. Terry is brought to life by actor Glen Davies and it's not his first stint in EastEnders.

While Terry has never been seen on screen, Glen has played several minor roles from 1995 until 2023 including Mervyn Dale, a journalist with the Walford Gazette. When Arthur Fowler found himself in hot water over embezzlement charges back in 1995, Mervyn penned a piece on the supposed theft, insinuating that Arthur required the funds to maintain his long-standing affair with Christine Hewitt. Glen has previously graced our screens in Emmerdale , another ITV soap favourite, portraying an Enforcement Officer in 2013.

He also took on the role of Silas Jukes in the BBC's medical drama Doctors in 2018. EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 6am.
