EastEnders star Jonny Freeman teased the soap fate of a much-loved character on the BBC soap recently, amid a major murder twist. The Reiss Colwell actor spoke exclusively to The Mirror a few weeks ago, after the arrest of Sonia Fowler over Debbie Colwell's murder. Fans know that Reiss killed his ex, before allowing his pregnant fiancée Sonia to take the fall.
Sonia was horrified when she was sent to prison for the crime, unaware her partner Reiss was the true killer. Someone who was onto Reiss was Sonia's sister Bianca Jackson, and now there's been quite the showdown. Reiss appeared to attack Bianca last week in his secret storage unit, with fans fearing she'd been killed off.
It soon emerged Bianca was still alive though, and she's now being held captive in the unit. They had a bit of a showdown it seems with Reiss hiding an injury, leaving Walford residents suspicious. With him trying to hide a mystery chest, trying to get it into his car boot, a handful of residents were left questioning the character and what had happened with Bianca.
Reiss told Martin Fowler that Bianca had attacked him, after it was revealed her van had been found abandoned. With concern over her whereabouts and Martin urging Reiss to speak to the police, it could be a matter of time before someone realises what Reiss has done. Reiss has refused to let her go and he insisted on keeping her chained up in the warehouse until Sonia was released from prison.
But is this likely to happen, and what will it mean for Bianca? Speaking to The Mirror recently, actor Jonny teased whether we could see Sonia back on the show soon or if she was heading to prison for good. Hinting at her soap future, Jonny explained why Reiss had not helped her. He told us: "He is under a huge amount of pressure but I don't think he's torn about helping Sonia.
He firmly believes that Sonia will not go down for it because she didn't do it. He has got the privilege of knowing that because he killed Debbie. "The pressure is building and building, but he thinks that she will get out.
If he didn't think that would be the case then he would have done the decent thing. But as long as she is getting out, then that's that. "He wants the better future, the family with her, she is pregnant.
So he's holding out and not confessing. He has got the blinkers on but he's holding out for the best." This certainly teases Sonia's show fate, in that Reiss' confidence in Sonia being freed could mean she will be back soon.
Then again his absolute refusal to confess to his crime could well mean a longer prison stint for Sonia, especially with her sister locked away - Bianca being the only person who knows the truth. So with Reiss covering his tracks and hoping to keep out of prison, is Sonia facing prison for the long haul? Or might Reiss be forced to act?
